The Space Museum and Grissom Center in Bonne Terre is an incredible hidden gem! Despite being in a small town, this museum offers a world-class collection of space artifacts, from astronaut gear to shuttle components and even lunar dust. The exhibits are hands-on, allowing visitors to interact with real space history—perfect for both kids and adults.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience even more engaging. If you're a fan of space exploration or just looking for a unique and educational stop, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

I cannot say enough great things about The Space Museum - it certainly is a must see but not for super young kids. The best way to describe the VR and VIP launch experiences is emotional. This museum certainly makes you proud of all America and mankind have accomplished and what lies ahead. I dont know what I was expecting but this far exceeded. This is a true, underrated Missouri gem with an easy drive from STL.

I've lived in the area all my life and never knew this place was here. I took my daughter today and was blown away with this museum, and the passionate people who work here. They have so much history here, VR Goggles for a breath taking view of earth from the international space station, and even a talking robot! We'll definitely be back!😁

Such a fun hidden gem! Stopped by as a fun activity while camping; there were so many amazing artifacts and immersive experiences. Earl was very knowledgeable and ensured we had a great visit. Definitely recommend!

My kids and I participated in a field trip here last week. I had no idea this museum existed and it has so much to offer. We had the best time and loved hearing from Lou and the other presentor. We will definitley be back and will now recommend this to everyone we know.

Lots of cool stuff you wouldn't expect in a small town museum. Our family had a great time looking around and talking with Earl about the museum and the items there. If you're passing by stop by and take a look... You know, if space travel interests you. And yes, they have some of the freeze dried snacks 😉

I was not expecting much, but this museum was perfect! It is very well put together with a great mix of interesting artifacts and lots of plaque explanation and history. Earl M was the icing on the cake. He had such fun quizzing and sharing info with my college aged boys and my husband (and me, but it wasn’t as much my thing). So glad we added it to our day!

This is definitely a hidden gem. I would rate more stars if I could. They have all kinds of things from the space program and the people from the museum provide lots of information about all the things they have. You can see a moon rock. They also have a robot. We had a group of kids and even the 6 year old was fully engaged in what our guide was saying.
Plan to spend some time there.
They have a nice gift shop too with things in all price ranges.
