We stayed for 2 nights in December in the Summer Cottage. We have mixed feelings so I will list the pros and cons.||Pros: Beautiful old home. Located within walking distance of shopping and numerous restaurants. Bed was very comfortable. Lighting was good. We enjoyed the fireplace; nice timer so that it went off at appointed time. Room was clean, except see below.||Cons: The area rug in the sitting area was torn and dirty--needs replacing. Only hot water would come out of the faucet of the sink in the bathroom. The cold water source must have been hooked up to hot water. The room is really a shed that was tacked onto the back--ok but the carpentry was not good, although the room was nicely decorated. The French toast that I had for breakfast the first morning was quite good as was the smoothy drink served with it. My husband's quiche the first morning was not sufficiently warmed. The croque madame served the second morning was served cold and not tasty. There was supposed to be afternoon tea and pastries but we never saw them appear. We did not find the staff to be particularly friendly. I will give the waitress at breakfast the second day at breakfast because a lot of people came in at the same time.

The only reason I am not giving The Harrison a One Star review is the knowledge that Cape May is a summer destination.|We stayed in late December and this review is pertaining to the facilities during winter weather. My family occupied three separate rooms. The evening temperature during our stay ranged from 12 degrees to 34 degrees, with high winds. |One of my guests essentially could not sleep at night in her room during a three day stay because it was so cold. |Taking a shower was also impossible, because the bathroom windows consistently allowed the winter wind into the bathroom. |All of the windows in that room are not properly sealed and winter wind came in the room all night. My guest tried to seal the bathroom window with a giant trash bag and painter's tape. The heater did not work properly and the room barely could be kept at 70 degrees Fahrenheit when the heater was set to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. To make matters worse, even after notifying the management, the heat was remotely turned off in all the rooms during the day, no matter the thermostat setting, The second night a portable electric heater was located for my guest's room after consistent complaints multiple times daily about the room temperature, but the bedroom and bathroom remained cold.|My room, after I returned from dinner the last night at 8:00 pm, was 59 degrees Fahrenheit, even though the thermostat was set at 75 degrees Fahrenheit when I left after breakfast. My bathroom sink only had scalding hot water coming out of both hot and cold water controls. After complaining of this, I was told to let the cold faucet run. After 30 minutes, the best it got was lukewarm and never cold. The next time it was turned on several hours later the cold control again delivered scalding hot water.|The breakfast was made to order from a menu 24 hours in advance and was wonderful. The onsite staff was personable and some tried to help, but there was a lack of building maintenance.|The façade of the Harrison is beautiful, but it is only a façade.

Check in, breakfast, afternoon snack wonderful. Nice Christmas decorations. Located very close to Washington Street mall and beach. Room very mediocre. Bed horrible, creaky, uncomfortable. Step down to bathroom in middle of night felt like a dangerous adventure. Like the place but upgrade beds please.

The Harrison is simply the most magnificent bed and breakfast in Cape May. The attentiveness of the staff is 5 star. I must give a special compliment to staff member,Jean Alvarado. From her culinary skills accompanied with her pleasant and friendly personality. The location is perfect. A block from the beach and a few blocks to Washington St Mall.

The Harrison is one of my favorite places to stay. All the properties the owners have are amazing, but The Harrison was the first one I stayed in, so it’s my top pick. |This visit was a week’s stay. I stayed in the Harrison Cottage room, which is in the back of the house. When I arrived, the service staff helped me with my belongings. The manager on duty carried my heavy suitcase for me, which was much appreciated. He made sure I was enjoying my stay throughout the week. At one point I left my purse unattended and he kept it safe for me until I returned. |Breakfast is always wonderful! The food is made fresh for you, and there are vegan and gluten free options. There are 2 choices every day, and the menu repeats after 5 days. Most people only stay a few days, so that’s perfect. Since I was there 8 days, I got to try the second option on the days that repeated, so I had a different breakfast every day. |Afternoon tea is also offered. Pastries made in house are offered. I enjoyed them, but a fresh fruit option would have be wonderful. |My room was very comfortable, the bed was just perfect! The temperature in the house is kept at 70, which is a little cold for me. I changed it in my room, but it always seemed to revert back to 70 when I left, so I resorted to turning it off when away. |Coffee and tea is available 24/7 which is fabulous, and there is a full size refrigerator in the pantry for you to store leftovers. |The Harrison is also walking distance from the Washington Street Mall, and the beach so once you find a spot for your car, you never have to move it. |All in all, it was an excellent stay. Highly recommend.

Stayed for a week in The Atlantis room in the Pharos House which is right next door to The Harrison. ||This corner room on the 3rd floor faces a small park and another beautiful Victorian house across the street with a comfortable king bed and an assortment of pillows (bonus for body pillow users such as ourselves). The AC was on point, quiet and appreciated during this humid week. ||This Cape Collection B&B earns 5 stars for many reasons:||1) Each room is meticulously decorated and clean|2) 2 course breakfasts are phenomenal weather you enjoy on a breezy summer morning on the porch or indoors in the dining areas. We loved how the gourmet breakfast options varied each day but just as delicious, beautifully plated and served with a smile. Fresh flowers, place settings, freshly made smoothies, hot coffee and tea station with an assortment of creamers and sugars, crisp white ceramic wares and simple yet pretty silverware and table settings were a delight to enjoy and much appreciated.|3). The innkeeper and staff are extremely attentive and always happy to see the guests. Although we missed all but one of the afternoon tea times, every night we came 'home', there was always some type of cookie, cakes, scones to enjoy in the sitting room with a nightcap, coffee or tea. |4). We loved that they had a refrigerator, freezer available for use in the pantry with water bottles as well as umbrellas for each guest. These small touches made all the difference! |5) Bicycles, beach bags and towels were available for use.|6) Pretty landscaping of hydrangeas and ferns among the Victorian allure of the house.|7) Cannot say enough about the innkeeper and staff for all of their efforts. |8) Enjoyed how they catered to a more mature audience which made our stay a very quiet and peaceful one.|9) We were able to park our car and leave it! Parking is hard to come by in this area. | We enjoyed that we were able to walk to everything that Cape May had to offer.||We were able to enjoy our long awaited girls' getaway thanks to all at The Harrison/Pharos and highly recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy Cape May in the historic district and its charming nature. A+++!

we have been coming to Cape May for the last 10 years and we stay at a different bed and breakfast each time - I know they own several so I was anxious to try one out. Unfortunately the owner occupied personal attention of a bed-and-breakfast is very rare. Most bed-and-breakfast places are more like a boutique hotel. You don't meet the owner. There's not a manager that you can find. It's just Hotel staff disguised as bed-and-breakfast people.
that being said, the staff were very friendly. Our room was very small with a small TV, but it was enjoyable. We booked the package which included the Provence restaurant. I must say I was disappointed that it was a 25 minute drive from our place. But after enjoying the four course meal, I would say it was the highlight for us. Absolutely great food ! So overall I would give this an 8/10 -
Including the dinner ? 9.5 out of 10.
