πŸ‘ Reviews of Research Computing Center

Of all the clusters I've used, this is possibly the worst. I would give a -inf star review if I could. If you are a PI looking for a cluster, DO NOT USE THIS CLUSTER. You will definitely not be getting the compute power per USD (EUR/Bitcoin/whatever currency of choice) you naturally assumed you would get. Spend your hardearned grant somewhere else.

Very often, I would get my jobs stuck on some node, squeue will say it's running but the node is just unresponsive even though nodestatus states that the utilisation of that node is low (but not zero so it's not totally dead).

I get version conflicts when I load certain modules on the cluster. What is version control? I asked for help on the helpdesk but they just ghosted me. What is technical support? And then I'm stranded on my own, trawling through stackexchange because I need to get results out regardless.

The research computing cluster is nice when it's working. When it's not working, the helpdesk is extremely unresponsive.
