The lighthouse offers sweeping views of the ocean and coastline. If you’re a fan of sunsets, this is the place to be. Wear comfortable shoes as the walk to the lighthouse from the parking area is about a mile. Arrive an hour before sunset to explore and secure a good viewing spot. Bring a jacket, as it can get breezy and cold near the coast.

I stop here every time I'm in the area. I absolutely love lighthouses, and this one is located in a place that's dear to my heart. It's about a half mile walk from the parking area to the lighthouse, and they have fun signs with questions/trivia on them about sea creatures. The view of the lighthouse with the ocean in the background takes my breath away every time. If the gift shop/museum is open, definitely drop in, and be sure to leave the suggested $5 donation if you can! It helps keep it open for others to enjoy, as they well should.

It is a beautiful place to visit, the biggest draw back are the fact you have to walk a mile in order to see it. They allow handicap, and people staying in the vacation homes to drive down and park, but all others have to hike down and back even though there was plenty of parking when we went. Seems like they would get more for traffic if they allowed you to park closer.

I first visited the lighthouse in 2018 and have been every year since. The lighthouse is a good walk from the parking lot so be ready for a 1 mile walk. You can walk the property to see great views and even to a secluded beach. Great memories for me here, can't wait to make more.

If you walk from the visitor center parking lot to the lighthouse, it's about a half mile downhill mostly on paved surfaces. The bad news, it's a half mile back uphill to return to your vehicle. Is it worth it? Yes it is, if this type of walking/hiking is satisfactory for all concern. They only way to drive directly to the lighthouse, is if you have disabled parking ability, or if you're staying at one of the lighthouse out buildings overnight. The lighthouse itself is not very big, maybe close to a modern small two-story house, but there are other surrounding out buildings built in the same era, giving it a compound feel of a time gone by.

Cute little functioning lighthouse.
It's about a half mile walk from the parking area to the lighthouse or you can walk a mile to where the ocean is.
The view of the lighthouse with the ocean in the background is very beautiful.

In order to get to the lighthouse/ocean view, you have to walk about half mile of kinda steep trail.(it is worth it though!)
They have a small “aquarium”, museum and a gift shop inside the lighthouse.

Beautiful walk to the lighthouse (1/2 a mile each way) with fun facts for the kids along the way. The aquarium is full of information and hands on learning. The lighthouse is full of history and the staff is very kind. You can see lots of sea life from the paths around the area. A must see!
