My girlfriend and I rented a Shorewood apartment from Pech Properties. The apartment was well maintained and had a recently updated kitchen. Chelsea from the Pech office and the property manager Rene were great and took care of any issues within 24 hours of us notifying him. The online rent paying option is a nice feature and each renter can send their portion of the rent with ease. Also the exit process is simple and within two weeks we had almost all of our deposit back (they give you a checklist of things to clean before leaving the apartment).

My boyfriend and I rented an apartment on N Cramer St. The cozy apartment was the perfect size for us. The location was close enough to walk to campus each day, but far enough away so we weren't bothered by partiers. Chelsea was very helpful! The only downfall was that we were on the waiting list for a parking spot our whole year living there. However, this was not a huge inconvenience because it never took more than two drives around the block to find a spot. Overall, we had a great experience renting from Pech Properties.

We rented an apartment in Shorewood through Pech for about 1.5 years. Chelsea was an amazing help and always made sure we were comfortable/happy. We had some issues at first (not related to the building) and Chelsea helped us get it resolved as painlessly as possible. The building itself was old and you definitely get what you pay for, but it was a perfect starter apartment for my FiancΓ© and I! The maintenance guy, Rene, was also an amazing help! Anytime we needed anything he was always there to take care of it right away. He always held great conversations with us and was just a fun person to have around. Even when our building gained a new Landlord, if we saw Rene outside he would ask how everything was running. That just shows how caring he is for all the tenants! Overall, our entire experience with Pech was great and they really do give you the best they can!

I will start by saying the pros renting apt from Pech. It has some apts by campus, which is a huge plus for UWM students who do not want to commute, and its prices are relatively friendly compared to other properties around this area.

Its cons, however, outweigh the pros. Cheap prices do not always mean lower quality. Unfortunately, it seems that Pech Properties is indeed willing to compromise its service in order to offer you really old units with lower-quality and services that do not go too far. "We will take care of you," which I heard from Pech's staff and the owner himself for quite a few times, turns out to be more an expression than a sincere promise to its tenants. Compared to most of the properties that I have had in the last 5 years in DeKalb (Illinois) and Eugene (Oregon), Pech Properties in Milwaukee does not have the quality it should have in such a competitive market.

To be more specific, I would start by saying that the indoor garage that I rented from Pech was horrible. It has a roof, which makes it indoor, but it is more like a hole that leaks (and leaves on your car some stains that are really hard or even impossible to remove). The apt I rented on Oakland Ave is really, really old and was not well maintained at all. Some taps and the toilet were leaking on a 24 hour basis. I was promised the key to my storage space. I waited, and waited, but still didn't see the key when I moved out of the apt. The apt was so dirty when I moved in that I needed to take pictures to make sure that I will not be responsible for all the problems.

When I moved out, I moved into one of their apts again simply because I assumed that all the problems were caused by the manager, not the property. And I was naive enough to actually believe that they actually cared about their customers when they said "I will take good care of you." The first day moving into the new apt, one of the shades fell on my wife's hand and left a wound for about 2 inches. When she went down to the office hoping to get the shade fixed, the staff and Joe Pech himself were there, showing nothing but indifference and impatience. What they did was simply trying to get rid of her without even showing any sympathy to my wife or apologizing for the inconvenience caused by their ignorance. The worst: they did not send anyone down to fix the shade until I made a separate request again. And it seems that they had no idea about the broken shade ...

So, think twice before you make the decision.

We have lived in our apartment for over 4 years and have had great experiences with Pech Properties. They are quick to respond with maintenance requests and we find a great value in our location and in our building. I would highly recommend renting with them.

I rented a unit in Pewaukee. The units are nice and the price is great. Plus you get a garage and a surface spot. The only downside is that the upstairs bedrooms get warm in the summer while the downstairs is comfortable. A window AC unit or a wall unit in one of the upstairs rooms would be nice.

I've had great experiences with this management company for the past 2.5 years. Clean, well-kept properties and super quick response times. Plus, affordable rents and parking options.
