Montezuma Castle National Monument - Camp Verde, Arizona

A long drive in, and absolutely worth it. It's beautiful, peaceful, with lots of shade and benches. The visitor center/gift shop is full of nice gifts and the people were so friendly and helpful. The cliff dwelling and information on it was so interesting, I'm glad we didn't miss it!

As a kid, this was one of my favorite places to visit. It is still just as awe-inspiring now as it was then. Take time to stroll along the path and read all the panels about the Sinauga people and their time spent in the Verde Valley.

The grove of Sycamore trees created a significant temperature difference, which was refreshing. Have a little fun and request a Junior Ranger packet. Completing it will result in a fun gift and the opportunity to learn a little more about the area.

Visitors Center was temporarily closed (not sure how long this will be) ? but Park Rangers were available to answer any questions. Interesting!! Great historic perspective of cliff dwellers.

Interesting and historical place here. It depicts ancient native peoples creating dwellings in the rock face. Very fascinating to see and learn about the history. It doesn’t take long to walk the ground but very interesting and fascinating nevertheless.

Hands down one of the best stops on our trip. It wasn't very busy when we arrived so we had ample time for photos and reading the information. The park staff were friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. We purchased our tickets online and just had to show our receipt. Cute gift shop and museum. The castle was magnificent and easy to photograph. I plan on returning often. A shout out to the gentleman who gave us information on the best route to travel and see Tuzigoot thank you cornville was beautiful thank you for being so friendly and helpful and giving us great trip advice. You made our trip more memorable. Highly recommended.

This was a lovely park. The rangers were very friendly. The pathway that takes you along side of the cliff is paved and mostly shaded. There is ample signage to describe what you are looking at- ruins of what once was a 20 room high rise apartment dating back almost 1000 years - the “castle.” There is also a well associated with the park that is several miles away. We didn’t find out about it until after we were home, but would have gone to see it had we known. We have a national
Parks pass but if you don’t, a ticket to this location also gets you entry into the nearby Tuzigoot National Monument which is also worth a visit

Montezuma Castle is a great stop if you're into history when traveling from Phoenix to Big Bend / Flagstaff / Petrified Forest

The visitor center includes a ticket counter and ranger when you first walk in. There's half of the store dedicated to a gift shop selling merchandise while the other half is an exhibit dedicated to Montezuma Castle. The exhibit is informative but has seen better days. There's a water bottle filling stations and restrooms on the walk in from the parking lot.

The cliffside castle is a short walk (.15 mi) from the visitor center. The path is paved but a good amount of the path is unshaded, which can get hot when we visited August around 11a. The Castle itself is awe-inspiring - there's ruins of a other cliffside structures but that have since been destroyed.

Hot, Hot, Hot. Really near monument tucked in the Verde Valley. Must pay to view monument, paved walkway, LOTS more of shade, animals welcome on leash (small animals were welcomed inside, but must be held.) Nice public bathrooms and there was a water bottle filler and a large picnic area. Very educational monument site with lots of displays, see the museum inside.
