Coming from someone who was in prison stealing and drugs yes we were forced to go there but I can honestly say it helped me I got my GED became certified welder and mechanic and I now run my own automotive mechanic service so yes we are forced to go the housing sucks but if you apply your self u can make it work out for the best for u

After reading the reviews of others that have been at Lifetech, I have to wonder if the negative comments are made simply because they didn't want to go there.
My son was granted parole in April 2017. When the parole board told me he would be going to Lifetech for 6 months before coming home, my heart sank and I cried. Of course, he was more upset about it when I had to tell him.
But, let me tell you how much this program made a difference in his and our lives!
About 3 weeks before his transfer, he made up his mind that this was going to be the new beginning for him to live a clean and productive life! He wanted to be completely honest. He wanted to be the best husband and daddy that he could be. He threw himself full force into making the most of his time there. He got so much of the help he so desperately needed and then some. Anger Management, parenting skills, drug abuse counseling, life skills, family counseling and so much more. There were 18 classes that he completed and learned from!
Today, he has 2 years 2 months clean from everything. I thank God first for giving my son hope. But I can't thank the group of workers at LifeTech for all they did in helping my son get his life on the right path. He works every single day. He's the daddy, husband, son, brother and a lot more that I always knew he could be! I can't remember the last time I was able to see my son truly happy. He believes in himself more now than ever. I honestly got to know my grown-up son in a way that I always prayed for. His destructive path lasted almost 15 years. To see him come home as a whole man was an answered prayer and a dream come true! I wish more young men would give this place a chance. It's not a punishment! It's what anyone decides to make it and can be a lifesaver if you set your mind to it. I think Alabama needs more of these centers and people like my son could be rehabilitated. I am one proud mom and thankful from the bottom of my heart. I am so very happy with the results that I see every day! Thank you to every worker who had a part of putting him in a position to make the most of the time he spent with you all.

I understand that people have to go here in order to come home. But everyone there complains about them not having heat,or hot water and its unlivable with bugs or whatever they have. You would think they would shut that place down and fix it up. Which to my understanding the are but i also dont think they should have thoese guys come home then have to go back. But thats just how i feel about the place. And from the few ratings they have. Someone needs to do something about it.

I know i spent years in prison taking every self-improvement course available, even running the states largest drug program at Limestone Prison for the last year before I made parole. I thought I was going home. Then I discover Im being sent to tgis place to take more classes. In short, I spent 3 months taking drug classes Id just been teaching, while I had never done drugs in my life. Then another 3 months taking trade classes, when I have a higher level of education than the instructors. I ended up teaching 2 of the classes, under threat of being sent back to prison if I didnt. Then (im a very quiet person in that enviroment) was put on mental health medication and told the obly side effect was nausia. When i couldnt urinate, eat, sleep, and started to imagine suicide, their solution was a piece of paper absolvibg them of responsibiity if I did. Eventually I did attempt it, and was threatened with prison again. Instead if taking me off the meds, they doubled the dosage. Turns out there were 3 pages of side effects, including what I experienced.----all this while living in a dormitory with 1 washer and drier for 150 people, no heat or hot water, less food than you get in prison, roaches INFESTING the kitchen (imagine roaches baked into your biscuits), and no way to speak to your family unless you buy a $5 phone card, from them, for $15. Finally, the trade program is just free labor for building furniture for employees of the state. Literally. Only state employees can order things from them (for price of materials), and youll do it or go back to prison.----anyone with health issues when they get there will have their parole revoked and sent back to prison for several more years as if theyd failed to complete Lifetech. In other words, if you work hard for years to be released, but youve got diabetes, youve got your first parole violation the second they send you to lifetech.--- i barely survived, and i pray they shut that place down.

I was in 2nd class to get to go there. I graduated in 2005 or 06. I read some of the reviews for this place and wanted to speak up. This place is what helped me to turn my life around. I am truly thankful for the opportunity i got for going to this place.

It's been there a long time.. You can never get in touch with anyone there . the phones are always busy, the washing machines don't work. The place is rundown.. You would think they would close this place down
