My grandmother’s journal writings that span 30+ years are currently being scanned by Kindex. I transcribed 2 journal entries over 30 minutes or so, and I was surprised at how I came away having a better understanding of my mother and her siblings, and why my mother’s brain was wired as it was. It is a reminder to me that life in general is a messy process, and that humans are emotional beings- more so than we realize.

Biggest Pro: access to information that helps individuals to understand familial complexities and learn from them.

I have been to Kindex many times, and today (9/27/23) I had the pleasure of visiting Kindex today, and met a VERY pleasant and skilled employee, Thomas.

He shared with me what he was working on- a transcription of some family documents detailing stories and recollections of their family members.

Thomas is bright, articulate, funny, and obviously skilled at the scanning/transcribing/archiving process.

I look forward to visiting again and have been impressed with the work they’ve done on two of our family archives.
