From the time I requested my children to be added, removed from the wait list at different times I always felt comfortable asking questions and following up on outstanding concerns. I was also able to verify and update health insurance coverage prior to any appointments being scheduled. Our in-person & virtual appointments were excellent, everyone that we interacted with were pleasant and professional. Thank you all for your patience and for the support that we needed!

First child assessment, great experience. Then when I made it to the top of a waitlist for a service, a voicemail was left stating that since my insurance didn’t cover the service, they were taking me off of the waitlist. When I called to say I was willing to go out of network I was told I would be at the bottom of the waitlist. Second child, regular intake completed but CARD intake never happened and I called after 3 months. I was sent to multiple departments because they couldn’t find my second child in the system. Then I waited on hold for two hours to be told to leave a voicemail and they would call me back within 48 hours. I left two different phone numbers on that voicemail in case I was not available on my main line and neither line has a missed call or a voicemail after three weeks. I’m sure services are great if you can actually get on a waitlist and stay there.

I received an email acknowledging that I had begun the CARD application on 9/14/22. Had it all completed with documents turned in on 9/19/22 and got a confirmation that it was officially accepted/received 9/21/22. In April of the next year I called and emailed to see where we were on the waitlist. A lady responded by email that said she could see that they received my report in September and there was a 13mos wait for a follow up evaluation that puts us being seen in October 2023. I said great, I look forward to the scheduling call. I emailed back in November to say after speaking with a scheduling coordinator that they informed me the quoted time was wrong, that it was actually a 16-18mos wait and they apologized for the misinformation, but would make a note to schedule my daughter for January which would be the beginning of the 16-18mos waiting time. I called again towards the end of January and no word, reached out in February where I was told it was the middle of my waiting period and I needed to just be patient. I called again in late March and they said they could see that I had moved to pending status and should be expecting a phone call in April. So I asked you mean so sometime after 18mos, but before crossing over into 19mos which would be passed the adjusted quoted waiting period of 16-18mos? and she said yes. Well it is now 4/17 and knowing that scheduling is usually a couple weeks out from when they call to make the appointment, it's safe to say I have still gotten no call and my daughter will not be seen before 4/21 and it will be 19mos+ on the waiting list in just a few short days. I am very disappointed in the lies and misinformation. I should have made another appointment with Children's who saw my daughter when she was 5 & a half and 6 & a half, and who had recommended a 24mos follow up.

I decided to do that through Kennedy Krieger as an additional opinion a couple months after she turned 8 and now she'll be 10 in July and there is a special school I am considering sending her to and was awaiting this evaluation for that as well as Maryland public schools requiring an updated report to continue her 504 plan. When I call the main number and ask for help, it's always a voicemail when "transferred to the department or extension that can assist" and a lot of apologies and lack of an ability to get clear answers from whomever I do actually get to speak to on the phone.

*update* they lied and said someone from scheduling tried to call me on April 4th. I had no missed call and no voicemail, and she confirmed my calling # was the one on file. I didn't know anything about them receiving extra funding recently according to another reviewer, but I agree it could be used towards better organization and management.

The services provided here at Kennedy Krieger are amazing however, there should be an area for visitors to allow their children who are not being seen to play as well while the active patient is being seen. Myself and my one year old son were abruptly asked to leave the outside playground area for their school children to utilize. I went inside to ask if he was able to use the playroom on the second floor and I was told no because it is only for active patients so I had to sit in my car with my son until my daughter was finished her appointment over an hour later where I was being monitored. As stated initially the services are amazing but this inconvenience definitely affected my experience…

by far one of the worst places you could take your child they don’t care about the children at all. they just got a millions of dollars funded but you don’t have enough staff or room for the patients that they have to be forced to be on a waiting list for a year before they can get seen, this is ridiculous.smh what a waste of time, and John Hopkins need to stop trying to refer patients to go there, because they’re not helping nobody at Kennedy Krieger

I took my son for one 45 minute evaluation and they charged me close to 2000 dollars, out of pocket.

There are racial disparities in treatment and diagnosis of ADHD between white and children of color. I am never returning here.
