The Forest Research Institute located on outskirts of Dehradun, Chakrata road, is a delight to eyes & soul especially for those who love nature and greenery. The main entry gate requires you to purchase a ticket of Rs. 55 per person. You can take your vehicle inside to explore the place, visit attractions, botanical gardens, get pictures clicked. The main building in the centre is the main attraction with multiple museums & symmetrical galleries. The common ticket to all 6 museums costs Rs. 60 per person. Avoid going between 1-1:30pm as it is there lunch time & you won’t be able to buy the ticket. The museums might be of interest to individuals interested in botany, zoology, and forest research like timber, non timber based forest products, epidemiology etc. Personally I did not find the museums great, but can be a fruitful one time visit. Make sure you follow the sign boards to avoid getting lost. Overall, it’s a good one time visit. You can try visiting in spring or rainy season when it’s lush green there.
