Great place to spend the day. Top floor in the main building is now open to the public - you don't have to be with a tour. Bison are out often, lots to do and see especially in the warmer months. Plenty of prairie, woods and an activity center. Plenty is off-limits, but plenty is open as well. Lots of sculptures and cool looking buildings.

Awesome facility! I visited when I was on a tour for school. The whole place is huge and they showed us around to tell us about what they do there. They smash particles into one another in order to test the physics of high energy physics. Kinda far from Chicago

Super cool place. Free tours and they treat it like an open campus you can visit. There are many artistic things to see and Buffalo on a farm. Many beautiful views from the 15th floor where you can do a self guided tour for free. There are also areas to fish and walk your dogs.

Off to see Bison on the grounds.
Remember, real ID's or US Passport to enter.
Lab visiting in main building is cool too to see accelerator ring and linear from up high.

Not just a national lab that advances our understanding of particle physics, but also one fo the most scenic places I've been to this past year. Fermilab upholds its value of preserving nature and wildlife. Be sure to take a tour of this facility so that you can go to the top floor of the Wilson hall and see the whole facility and possibly catch a glimpse of Chigaco. Also, don't forget to take a look at the Bison herd that they keep on the facility.

If you love science and would enjoy learning about a cutting edge physics research facility visit Fermilab for a tour. You don’t have to have a firm grasp of particle physics to appreciate the research being done here. You can marvel at the concepts of muons and neutrinos and have a delightful time exploring and discovering the latest contributions from this unique laboratory. Great fun for adults and curious kids. Plan for an hour and a half. The staff is helpful answering questions. Very interesting facility.

Awesome spot. Went here for open house and it was a great time! They were super organized; I mean, go figure - scientists and all. The food they had catered was really good with vegetarian options. Busses ran quickly and everyone seemed to know where to go. I highly recommend!

What more could you ask for. The cafeteria was plentiful and delicious. The lecture that was given upon astronomy and cosmology was well done and well informed. And the public tour was even better. Unlike a lot of other laboratories, Fermilab is completely public towards people who yearn for more knowledge.
