I just called for a question. It was the difference between unemployment and disability, and the requirements for both. The operator (wish I had gotten her name) was extremely rude. She belittled me and was EXTREMELY condescending for a simple question. And after she felt my question was answered she hung up on me. I've been sick and this is my first time with the whole disability/unemployment process. I just called for some clarity and instead got someone who made me feel like I was ignorant and wanted to cheat the system. To quote her, "You can't just cherry-pick and choose whether you're on disability or unemployment." I said, "I'm not. I'm trying to get clarity on something I know nothing about." But it didn't matter. I was unfairly judged and treated as such. I called back to get her name and of course, no one answered. When I told her I was calling this office for clarity, because I thought that would be the right move, rather than listening to random people she scoffed and said, "I'm not an expert. I just answer the phones. But here let me read from the handbook for you."

This made everything 100% worse. Now I'm anxious. Is this how I'm going to be treated?

There was a woman in EDD information area wirh dark hair, dark skin named June or something like that, she took my phone number and said she will call me and connect me with main office and she did!!!!! Right on time and we got through and problem is solved. She is the best and very caring. God bless you. Thank you.

The lady was friendly, but unfortunately no help at all. I was here to check the status of my Disability SDI application and the lady kindly told me. "This a workforce development, we help people to look for jobs here." This is the wrong office help under EDD name. They may only help you to give you the applications in order to apply for Disability and file a claim. After a 40 mins drive just to get my questions unanswered. Sad sad.

You guys are why people are killing themselves during this pandemic. I have been out of work since March 2nd, and have been trying to file and get even the most basic of information has been impossible. No one will give any information, I've been able to talk to 2 people in these last 3 months and they counteracted everything written on the site or that I have been emailed. Everyone else I have spoken too have received their benefits, but I cant even get a basic answer.
