The Charente meetings went as hoped. This experience was a great one, and I would definitely recommend this process to any pastors. I cannot think of any thing that should have been done differently. Even though he did not do a lot of talking, it was great to have the general contractor present at those meetings. It really helped to have the builder there to give his perspective on things.

It is great to have a ministry minded architectural company to work with in major projects.

Did things go as expected? Yes

Were/are your design needs being met? Absolutely

Is there anything we could have done better?

Would you recommend the charrette process to other churches? yes

Can you share what your anticipated timeline is to begin the construction drawings phase? Would depend on report from civil engineers and financing.

The thoughts and suggestions of you and your group are very much appreciated. Should it have been suggested to us before contracting with BGW to get a civil engineer to make sure your suggestions are workable?

Thank you for all your help. The week went great. We are much more informed and prepared for the journey in front of us. I believe our expectations were met. We needed a realistic view of what we needed to do and to get a comparative design. Both were accomplished. The hardest part for us is that the design is not really comparing Apples to Apples from previous design work, so we have to look at it as a stand-alone concept. That said everyone loved the concept and felt that Austin did a great job capturing the heart of our church and the vision we are working with.

I do recommend this Charette process as this is a very informative way to get the process to come together. For our leaders, I felt like the 3-day weekend was a good fit as we had already done quite a bit of vision planning on our own prior to this so we knew the kind of direction we wanted to go. It did force us to revisit a few things but, in the end, the process was fairly simple.

The Charrette (Feb 2025) went exactly as I expected. All the others in our leadership were equally pleased. Even those who did not know what to expect were encouraged by the knowledge and process.

Our needs were met. I felt the whole process went well. Professional. On target.

Working with BGW has been an excellent experience for our Church.

The expectations for the approach and content of the Charrette (their rapid, interactive design sessions) were explained well and then were met. Our architect, Don Mahoney, did an excellent job listening, counseling, and then providing very helpful plans on a very quick turnaround. It was great to be able to see our ideas put into visual form so quickly.

They way they do the Charrette is an incredibly valuable exercise that builds camaraderie and refines the vision, in a remarkably short amount of time.

Overall, this has been an excellent experience. I didn't think we could make this much substantive progress this quickly. Don's input is invaluable and the level of detail on the costs that Dean from Schifferer Built estimated has exceeded my expectations.

We have been very pleased with BGW and Schifferer Built. And I can recommend them whole heartedly.

We were extremely pleased with the process of the charrette and the design results we achieved. Yes, we feel very confident the resulting design will meet our needs going forward. I don’t know of anything that could have been much better. It did seem that with the late change in planned designers from Austin to Don, that Don did not have access to all the plans that had been uploaded. This was not really a problem, but did cause a little confusion. We would strongly recommend the process and BGW to other churches.

We were seeking a like minded and Kingdom focused architectural group to help us achieve what we believe God is calling us to do in our church and community. After making an inquiry and talking to Program Manage, Scott Griffin, that same day I was able to get the info needed to understand their process and what makes them unique. BGW has hit our expectations and gone beyond what we expected. Our design needs through the preliminary design process have been overall captured as we are almost done fine tuning certain areas that are still in review. Our architect, Austin has been able to capture and effectively bring a great flow to our new project making all spaces ministry space. No space is wasted which keeps costs down. The Charrette process was perfect for us and is completely worth it for any other church or christian school. I would highly recommend pursuing BGW for your next project.

Don and his team are exceptional to work with. They immediately accelerated our future planning and got us heading in the right direction through the charrette process. We're looking forward to the next step with Don and team!
