Over 10 years ago I applied for Cambridge housing when I used to work there, over 6 years ago for Boston housing after my divorce and 2 years ago for Metro Housing Boston, none of them help me with my two kids with affordable housing that I can afford to pay so I don’t leave from Boston, quit my job and take kids from school in Boston. During pandemic my landlord sold the building and my new landlord raised the price double them what I used to pay. I applied for RAFT and they was great helping me with rent, in same time I applied for a lot lottery apartment , the better one I applied was the one in Seaport and I won that lottery in Seaport. BPDA is very restrict with everything, I was able to submit everything they requested on time and I got approved. I’m so happy and so thankful for the affordable lottery in Boston and BPDA. If I’m not homeless right now with my kids and still living in Boston in a beautiful apartment in Seaport is because of them. Thank you City of Boston!

I feel that BPDA needs to review some of their practices. I find it highly disappointing that they claim to provide affordable housing yet use AMI as a way to discriminate against people with lower income, primarily voucher holders. The low income floors for many apartments are 100% or more AMI which doesn’t make sense. The reason why is because someone at the “minimum income” level earns too much to receive any assistance meaning they can comfortably afford market rent. During the pandemic BPDA did remove the AMI requirements until the end of this past September. I’m hoping by posting this they’ll take a look at if their requirements and reevaluate is it actually “fair” housing. I would’ve given less stars based from this but the people that work at BPDA, especially the receptionist and Peter Sasso are amazing and very helpful.

Racist, unaccountable, segregationist, and corrupt organization that no one is willing to dismantle.

The BPDA is an outdated, unaccountable entity that prevents us from building a more just society. It’s time to abolish the BPDA, transfer its land to city control, and create a real Planning department that answers to the people of Boston.

Instead of shaping Boston neighborhoods to meet residents’ needs — things like better transit, more permanently affordable housing, green spaces and neighborhood amenities — developments are proposed by for-profit developers and their interests.

This institution is the #1 reason we have no affordable apartments or homes in Boston. They havent updated their zoning guidelines in years. We need more high density housing near public transit!! More housing = less demand = more affordable prices!!!

Why did you reduce the height of one Congress? It will screw up the whole look of the new development In the Bulfinch triangle. 600 feet isnt a big skyscraper to begin with.
