I recently attended the BootUp Boot Camp. They made it clear from the first interview that I should not expect to get funded during the week's co-hort. So as much as I wanted and needed funding, my expectations were within reason. The one week boot camp is very intense and demanding. What they do offer, in a very productive way, are ways to refine your pitch to investors. They brought numerous Silicon Valley investors and business people to lecture us on what investors look for in a pitch and how to generate their interest. These details, I think, are extremely important to eventually getting funded. Realistically, nobody is going to fund you within a week. If you connect with any of the investors you meet, then it is up to you to follow up and hopefully get funded by them down the road. Yes it does cost money to attend. But, if your expectations are within reason, then it is well worth it.

Our event coordinator Britteney was super responsive and accommodating. The startup cafe space we used was the perfect combination of professional and casual. We were able to bring our own food and wine which helped us save cost, but we got to use all of BootUP’s wine glasses, cutlery, tables, etc. Great space and super easy to book!

Attended the week-long bootcamp. I thought they did a fantastic job in helping to get the foundations in place. While I thought I had my pitch down, they helped me refine it a lot more...and for that I'm extremely grateful. I made numerous amazing contacts with the mentors and advisors they brought in...and for just being a week-long course, I thought it was well structured and designed. They cover a lot of different topics and help get you to the point where you can comfortable speak with investors. They don't promise any funding (nor should they or any other accelerator/bootcamp), so you have to have the right mindset. Be open, listen to advice, and be willing to adjust accordingly to others' opinions and thoughts.
