We hired Ben to provide a written plan of a 26' x 27' room (LR DR and Kitchen) for our single family home. A plan to be submitted to the City of Daytona Beach for approval and required permit. He subsequently hired a structural engineer to inspect the 2 walls we wanted to remove, observed through the ceiling, in which to open the room up. After both he and his structural engineer inspected the roof, joists and flooring, he instructed us to "knock it all down nothing structural here", indicating the walls we wanted to remove. I removed sheet rock and paused-- I had a contractor observe the same area who informed me that the wall was not only structural, if had removed it the entire roof would have collapsed inside. Ben provided an in-accurate drawing of the house, meaning the drawing had no measurements, 2 windows on the house were not on the drawing, and doors incorrectly depicted. Upon voicing my concerns he came back to the house and said to "build around the support in the middle of the room" then he stated in an email to my wife how much he charged by the hour, and that " now you question the field measure and the as-built drawings", both of which were wrong. Next was "please forward $$$$.$$ within the next 10 days or we will have to find other ways to collect." He agreed not to charge us the specific amount for the engineers inspection and guidance (the one he hired to inspect). This is what happened to me. I do not recommend him.
