My family loves this library. All the employees are so nice and welcoming. They have a big children’s play area and great book selections.
I’ve been to other libraries but no other one has a great sense of community such as this one.

I went into the library to see how the remodel was. As I walked in, I wasn't greeted. I walked around the library to see how everything had changed. I went to look at the teen books, and the sign on the door said and I quote, "'Teens Only after 3pm." There was also a security guard, just sitting there on this phone on a call, who didn't say anything except, my manager wants to talk to you. She told me I wasn't allowed in that area. Yet, there was a whole guard "securing" the location. This review is written at the library, and it is 11:32am. This makes the place seem unwelcoming. There were 5 patrons in the whole library. I was looked at a couple of times, and maybe judged. It looks as if they just want to act like security. Copies are available to customers at 15c/pg for B&W, and 50c/pf for color.

I really like the contemporary architecture of this Houston Public Library located on Griggs at MLK. The library is spacious with well lighted reading spaces.

There is a nice selection of fiction and non-fiction books. The librarians are friendly and helpful.

Young Library is my neighborhood library and I absolutely love it. The librarians and other workers are always so nice and helpful. The books are kept neat and tidy and there is plenty of space in between the shelves. There are several seating options and all of them are super comfy. They have different sections for different age ranges. I love it here!

If I could leave 0 stars I would today March 7, 2024. I came in and the library was loud as a daycare there were kids running from computer to computer with no parent supervision. I was there for an hour and I had to change seats since there was no control over the kids there. I was finally able to concentrate on writing my support letter since I am pregnant and my mom doesn’t know how to write. When I was finally able to concentrate and my letter was doing good, I got a call. I was rudely approached by an African American female who rudely told me to “shut up” when clearly all the kids were screaming. I told her I didn’t see a problem with the way I was speaking since the kids were being louder (not in any rude way). Then she proceeded to tell me that I could leave if I didn’t like what she told me or the way that she spoke to me. I proceeded to say “ok”. She attacked me with words by saying that “as a matter fact leave”. The kids that were screaming were also African American but she came up to me out of all ppl. I’m Hispanic and I honestly think this rude woman came after me because of my race. This all happened from 4-5:30 pm I honestly don’t think this woman is not responsible enough to work there were people of different races go in to everyday. She tried getting a security to escort me out when I was clearly walking out of the door already. As a pregnant woman I did not feel safe at this library. Worst racist library in history! Please do better because she does not make this place safe for anybody not even the kids!

Friendly staff; wonderfully diverse patrons.** Be mindful of childerbeasts in the afternoons -- spongey lil' learners, they are! Someone was singing to 'em one afternoon. Wanted to know more, but middle-aged guys in libraries get *weird* looks for peeking around corners at kiddos! LOL
