Limited parking because of residential permits.
About 2 blocks or 10 minutes away from trail, Free or Street parking available near Hoover Elementary School on Alta Ave.
Turnbull Canyon, Rattlesnake Ridge, and Sumac Trail Loop
Did the whole loop. Counter clockwise is shaded incline with an easy decline down. Beautiful hike & midway was great views. Also, saw a small snake.
Graffiti ruins the signs trail info. & too much dog poop. No restrooms.

This is a great trail for hiking, usually go during the weekday (because the parking is easier) and it’s never too crowded. It’s always rewarding to make it to the top of an just take a moment to let it all in. Photos taken on a recent hike (I strapped my camera and lenses on and took it up the trail, probably won’t do that again).

Nice Hike, some great views up at the top. I hiked it in the early afternoon and one of the pleasant things about hiking these canyons is the shade. So many good hikes in OC but a lot of then have zero shade. On your way up the windy paths you get at least some shade which always feels nice. Plenty of wildlife, I saw a couple falcons and many bunnies.

Great place to exercise, but parking is minimal. Do not park in surrounding neighborhood, because you'll return to your car with a nice white parking ticket ($41) 😥. All in all, it's a nice place to go with a beautiful view from the top. Enjoy!

I really liked this hiking trail. It says its moderate, but I'm not going to lie...it was pretty tough. Lots of uphill. The view is great at the top. It can be a busy trail. We got there kinda late so many people were ending their walks, but several were still hiking. Parking can be tough as there isnt much space and the neighborhood is permit only. After the neighborhood the permit only stops and you might get lucky and find a spot; inbetween the neighborhood and the hiking trail. We took our dog. He loved it also. We saw a tarantula in a ditch on the trail. It was dark before we finished. Take a flashlight and water.

Allegedly haunted hiking trails with an ascent to a water tower. On a clear day, you can see downtown LA. It’s mostly exposed with limited shade. No restrooms available on the premises. Parking is difficult as much of the residential neighborhood is permit-only; there are a few spots located at the trailhead, but if it’s busy, you may need to park several blocks away.

Came here in the morning on Thanksgiving most recently and there were a fair amount of bikers and hikers. The lollipop route we did was about four miles total. Dogs are allowed in the trail. It’s a kid-friendly hike.

Yesterday I did a whole 6 miles hike, back and forth, from Turnbull canyon entrance south bound, north sumac trail, north rosehill no.1, skyline dr, back to Turnbull. It was pretty fair, and a total of 3 hours with 5 min breaks in betwee each trail.

This road up one side and down the other is a classic canyon route between two cities. With all of the winding asphalt to keep your attention you still can’t help but notice many of the “deluxe digs” that cling to the hillsides.
