The perfect accommodations for our family of 6, plus a friend of our oldest daughter, all visiting from Michigan early Aug 2024.
Kids ages (18, 18, 15, 13, 10).

We loved the cozy, home setup of the Fisherman’s Quay (South Bunkhouse).
The owner & manager both greeted us & made themselves available for any needs.

The unit was very clean & had lots of extras (reading materials, cards, games, puzzles).
We ate some meals in & found everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen (even spices/herbs).
We were pleased to have access to laundry in our unit for all those stinky hiking clothes!

Our crew took full advantage of the free bike & kayak fleet as we didn’t have other transportation, though town is a close enough, safe walk through their commercial fishing area. The Quay has excellent access to the harbor where you’ll see sunset & mountain views if you step out the door.

Locals said we had exceptional weather & it allowed us to bike nearly end to end daily. We also did an a.m. (per recommendation) self guided kayak tour in the harbor, under the bridge and to the opposite marina. Be sure to look for the giant star fish & marine life on the pilings under the dock if ya take the kayaks out! Curious sea lions & seals came to say hello too!
There is a grocery store a couple blocks up that we were able to bike groceries back from using backpacks.
There is a local food truck “Juan’s Cuban” & nearby streets food vendors set up for cruise ship visitors.

Of the places we visited in AK, Sitka will hold a special place in our hearts. The locals were very kind and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. One local even turned around and did a 2 mile uphill hike with us a second time after a sow & 2 cubs crossed our path.
Everyone knows everyone & even the youth there are helpful & proud of sharing their home.
You’re gonna fall in love with Sitka &
The Fisherman’s Quay is the perfect home away from home while you’re there. We’ll be back 🙂

Our family loved our stay at Fisherman’s Quay! It was very clean and cozy, well-stocked with bedding and towels, and also a well-equipped kitchen. As it is a “bunkhouse”, I expected the beds to be uncomfortable, but they were great! One of our favorite experiences in Sitka was kayaking around the harbor and town—the weather was gorgeous while we were there! FQ allows you to use their fleet of kayaks for free as well as their bicycles, which was so easy and convenient. The location was great—we enjoyed being a couple of blocks from downtown, still walkable—it felt very authentic. One of the best things about the bunkhouse was the huge dining table, where our family of five had plenty of room for meals, puzzles and nightly board games! It was a really great experience and we would definitely stay there again:) Shout-out to Jake for answering all of our questions and making us feel very welcome!

My family stayed at the FQ for our first visit to Alaska and we could not have had better accommodations! The Loft was beautifully remodeled and provided us all the items we needed to enjoy our stay. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, utensils, spices and the appliances were new and clean. The beds were comfortable and we even plugged in our phone to listen to Pandora through the built-in speakers while doing a puzzle at the table.

The Loft's proximity to town and fishing was just a pleasant walk down the street and the view from the deck (and dock) was unparalleled. We used the guest kayaks and fishing rods daily as well as the bikes. All the information for what Sitka had to offer was provided inside the unit so we just had to organize our agenda for the week. Very pleasant stay and extremely memorable!

Fisherman's Quay is a wonderful place to stay. Located an easy walk to shopping and downtown, the Quay makes for a great headquarters between excursions. There are bicycles and kayaks available, and the dock gives easy access to the channel. The place itself was comfortable and well equipped with a full kitchen. There is also an extra bathroom and shower for large groups. We highly recommend it.

Our family of 6 (grandma/pa, mom/dad, 2 kids) stayed at the South Bunkhouse of the Fisherman's Quay and couldn't have been more pleased. We left the Super 8 after 1 night ($120/night more for 2 rooms) and were able to get early check-in midweek. Barb was so helpful and accommodating. We took the seakayaks out and there are lots of bikes to choose from as well. The kitchen had all the amenities for cooking and beds/bunks were very comfortable. Location and views can't be beat! We will be back for sure.
