This school does not embody great leadership at all! It's like the blind leading the blind. Leaving students to get inadequate advice, guidance, resources, and results all while having student staff poorly advise each other while the higher ups get paid!!!! Issues go unresolved, and no one takes responsibility or accountability and constantly passes issues off from one person to another. Failing to have a proactive and clear approach in handling any issue adequately. Some of the staff are unprofessional, extremely rude, and unhelpful. After acceptance and the well played orientation, you are on your own!!! The only bottom line they care about is MONEY. Misadvising students to accept loans without prior knowledge or offering scholarships and tuition waivers without honoring them or providing inadequate financial advice or financial aid, especially to disadvantaged students. Save yourself the time, stress, aggravation, misguidance, and most of all, your money! This school is ran so poorly, they make CUNY seem like an ivy league!

There is absolutely NO admin body, no support to students in any way in this school. NONE! My son is a current student trying for months to speak to his dean, with someone about his credits, and there is no response and terrible attitude from the assistants, both in person or by phone. I am even surprised that teachers show up to classes. Do not waste your money and time, it is ridiculous.

I recently called the university’s admission office on behalf of my brother to ask some information regarding some process. The lady who answered the phone was unprofessional and began shouting at me. But there is no reason for staff to treat students or their families in this manner as this incident left a very negative impression. It is important for all visitors and callers to feel respected and heard, especially when seeking help for such an important matter.

The student affairs office is number one when it comes to making things harder for students rather than helping them. It’s truly a school with no system in place, where no one knows what’s going on. If you need to get something done, you have to struggle for about a year. They can even randomly tell you that you owe money to the school and demand payment. A school that absolutely does not deserve the money it charges.

This will be a long review. I just graduated from here and I have a lot to say about LIU.

The administration and board of trustees fully dropped the ball since the 2017 professor lockout and now they're fully focused on lining their pockets at the expense of both the professors and the students.
The pharmacy/nursing/polsci programs appear to be the least affected as of now and are the best choices if you decide to go here.

Enrollment services are extremely rude especially the lady in charge "Wanda". I would avoid that place like the plague if you can't solve your problems on your own.

The honors college is a highlight of this place. Unlike the rest of LIU, your advisor will care and be responsive to all of your concerns and needs, as well as connecting their students with opportunities and fellowships.

If you are a commuter and you just want to take your academics seriously and leave, this school is not as bad. The people who go here are super nice for the most part and even though it is difficult to meet people, socializing is a highlight at LIU.

The on-campus food is a mixed bag. Pom and Honey is trash while the dining hall can range in quality depending on time of the day and your luck.

The third floor "library" is dreadful and one of the worst places to study. I advise to use the fifth floor LLC instead as its much more quiet.

Always check rate my professor before taking a class. Read the fine-print of all paperwork they hand you, take advantage of CLEP exams and independent studies and good luck.

Every phone call I've had with admissions has been so rude and condescending for no reason. There is absolutely a negative culture at LIU Brooklyn. Don't waste your time trying to get help from them, they don't care. Definitely choosing other universities.

Sketchiest school ever. I know Some kids on scholarship and they said they’d give them a buffer semester to get there grades back up to meet the GPA requirement, and they never gave them a chance and immediately the following semester in there bills the scholarship money they received was gone.

This is where I got my MSN. The campus is really nice, my needs were met as a student, the graduation ball was fantastic, and the campus is spacious and relaxing considering that it is in Brooklyn. Thank you LIU.
