Columbia Universities earth 🌏 🔬 Science Research Center & observatory in upstate NY about 30miles north of NYC. Beautiful campus surrounded by many big trees and nature, nice views of the Hudson as well. They have a nice open house event every year in October where you can go to the campus and discover earth science, learn and see old earth sediment from millions of years old, asteroids & rocks what they are and how they are made, learn about volcanoes 🌋 the oceans, early cell life etc.., the open house event is great way to get out of the city with the kids and get some fresh air and a little science. Columbia University offers free busing from NYC there and back too👍 for the open house in October. The researchers there are doing awesome work.

For their open house, They had great exhibits all over the campus. We learned about climate change, tree rings, and volcano eruptions. We highly recommend it. 👌

Nice drive to the campus from the city. The researchers do some great work. I went for an open house and they had science activities for little kids and interesting talks for the adults. Although most of the topics were broad, the event was good for people who were new to the topics.

I wish every scholastic experience could be as wonderful as the one we had at Bright Horizon. Both of my children went there and loved it. Every single staff member was warm, kind and loving. Ms. Carol in toddlers and Sonia in pre-k went above and beyond by making every child feel loved and special. It is clear that they love what they do and are masters at it.
I took great comfort in knowing my children were in a safe, supportive, kind and loving environment that set them up to be confident and comfortable in school and life. The individual attention they received was unlike any other daycare, pre-k, elementary school or camp we’ve been to. The communication we had with the teachers and administrators was amazing and truly unique.
We found a community at BH with other families and teachers with whom we are still connected to. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent there.

An up-river gem. The researchers here are brilliant, and there's fantastic hiking to be done in the surrounding forest and cliffs. There are others around and they're generally kind, but some people can be inconsiderate, but that reflects more on the proximity to NYC than on Lamont itself. Go for a weekend hike if you have the chance!
