The distillery grounds are unique as there is a definite Spanish influence, which is cool. They are in a beautiful area with rolling hills around. One of the things I thought was really cool was that on the tours you get headsets to listen to the tour guide, so the guide doesn't have to scream, and everybody can hear well. The tasting room was nice, and I enjoyed everything I had. Nice gift shop as well. And with it being one of the older ones, some real cool history.

Our visit to Four Roses Distillery was enjoyable, though it didn’t quite stand out compared to some other distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Our tour guide, Grayson, was informative and did a solid job leading the tour.

The tasting experience was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The bourbons were good, but they didn’t quite wow me. However, the Spanish Mission-style architecture of the distillery was really unique and impressive, definitely setting it apart from other distilleries in Kentucky.

Overall, it was a nice experience, but not necessarily a must-do. Worth a visit if you’re a fan of Four Roses, but there are other distilleries I’d prioritize first.

This was one of our favorite stops on the bourbon trail. The Spanish style architecture was beautiful and the distillery grounds were beautiful. Grayson was a great tour guide and we were able to go in the mash house, the distilling room, walk the grounds and the tasting was excellent. They have a very nice gift shop with a lot of Four Roses merchandise. They do not have rick houses at this location so we were unable to go in the actual rick house where aging was taking place. Other reviews of this tour people actually didn't seem to like this tour as much but when we took it, we loved the tour and thought it was a top 5 of the 16 distilleries we visited during the week. This is definitely worth a stop and tour on the Bourbon trail.

Four Roses Distillery – A Spanish Soul in the Heart of Kentucky

Four Roses Distillery is a truly distinctive stop along the Bourbon Trail – not necessarily the most spectacular tour, but absolutely worth visiting for its charm, character, and historical significance.

Founded in 1888, it stands proudly as one of the eight oldest operating distilleries in Kentucky. But what really sets it apart is its striking Spanish Mission-style architecture – a rare and beautiful sight among the traditional American distilleries. The picturesque buildings create a serene, almost romantic atmosphere that instantly captivates.

The tour itself is concise and well-structured. Guests are given headsets to ensure every detail is heard clearly, even in the working parts of the distillery. While the interior may lack the dramatic flair or immersive storytelling of some other tours, it offers an honest, informative look at the craft behind Four Roses bourbon.

The tasting experience is a clear highlight. Each sample reveals layers of complexity that reflect the brand’s unique approach – blending ten distinct bourbon recipes using two mash bills and five yeast strains.

The interior of the facility is more functional than flashy, but that's part of its authenticity. What Four Roses may lack in theatrical presentation, it makes up for in genuine craftsmanship, warm hospitality, and a gift shop full of thoughtful bourbon-inspired treasures.

In summary: Not the flashiest stop on the trail, but one of the most unique and historically rich. A visit to Four Roses is a must for any true bourbon lover – not just to check off a box, but to appreciate the quiet elegance and timeless spirit this distillery brings to the Kentucky bourbon legacy.

One of the unique distilleries that looks different from the rest. They explain why on the tour. Tour guide was great but I felt the the tour could have been a little better. The guide however was great. The bar, shop and tasting rooms were excellent and beautiful. Def worth a stop. Get your tickets online to avoid showing up and not having any left. They have the other site in Bardstown that they do offer a free tour for that with the purchase to this tour if interested.

My husband is obsessed with Four Roses so naturally we went in with a positive mindset. Definitely did not disappoint. We were blown away. The grounds were beautiful and the tour was awesome! It was so nice to have a pair of headphones/receiver rather than strain to listen to your tour guide. We got to go inside and see all the fermentation which was super neat. Our tasting was also really good and they even let you have a complimentary Four Roses glass at the end of it! Would definitely recommend.

The overall experience was great. Our guide (Dusty) was a hoot, very engaging and informative. He was great with our questions, and when he didn’t have an answer, he got on his radio and found it. He led us through the tasting in a very relatable fashion. Extraordinary facilities and beautiful location, very warm and welcoming.
