Adventures In Kodiak - Kodiak, Alaska

Lee is an incredible captain with intimate knowledge of all the islands that make up Kodiak, and years of experience with the many animals that frequent the island.

While on his boat we saw too many otters to count, multiple kinds of whales, seals, bald eagles, puffins, a plethora of other kinds of birds, wolverines and many many more all against the gorgeous backdrop of Kodiak.

His boat is large and sturdy with twin 350 HP engines, a heated cabin and is stocked with lots of snacks. Lee’s navigational skills are impeccable and his stories / guiding are fun and informative. For someone like me who gets sea sick these were all important factors!

I cannot recommend Lee’s tour enough - it is the perfect way to spend a day. He and his wife Annie are bright presences who will have you leaving kodiak feeling like you’re leaving family.

We had an amazing day out on the water with beautiful weather with Lee Robbins, owner of Adventures in Kodiak. His boat only holds 6 passengers, which for someone who like to photograph animals is a dream! There were four of us, two with cameras, and we were able to move freely about the boat to take photos. Lee knows where to find puffins, sea otters, harbor seals, whales! The weather right at the beginning of the day was a little sketchy, so we did not get to go to sea lions. When Lee saw sideways big splashes, he was certain a whale was breaching. Fortunately for us, we got to see several breaches as we got closer, and then I got to photograph a breach. This was my first time to see a whale breaching. So much power and grace! The other camera gal had an exceptional camera and lens and got awesome photos of the breaching. We floated next to the sea otters, and I could hear the sound they were making. I also heard the slapping of puffin wings against the water as they tried to take off as the boat floated near them. One small island was full of tufted puffins, and we got so close! Lee is very knowledgeable and so personable with all aboard! We loved every minute of the day we spent on the waters around Kodiak Island!!

We were so fortunate to cross paths with Lee, whose kind hospitality made our time on Kodiak Island so memorable. We stayed at his lovely home, rented a sporty car from him, and had a remarkable wildlife tour on his boat. We saw fin whales, humpbacks, Dalls Porpoise, sea otters, puffins, eagles, and stunning terrain. Highly recommended!!!

We did the Marine Wildlife Nature Tour with Lee Robbins. We have done other ocean wildlife tours in Alaska but none was the equal of this. Lee got us close enough to take pictures of different Marine creatures, puffins, otters, whales and more. The best marine experience we have had in Alaska.

Lee and Annie are awesome! Lee is a great captain and guide (and always has a story or joke to share!). Annie is very helpful and made the booking easy! Lee's first mate, Miranda, was also very nice and helped to make the trip as wonderful as it was.

My wife, son and I had an extra day in Kodiak and were lucky enough that Lee has an opening. It was a great day filled with encounters of whales, sea lions, eagles, otters, puffins, etc. Plus, just a day on the water was so much fun. We hope to return to Kodiak and will definitely use Lee's and Annie's services again!
