I know I will fall short with my words when I explain the stellar care that I received. I was in the ICU Overflow room #4 with a rotation of wonderful nurses. I came in and got not so great news and was set to be operated but my team of nurses advocated for me and helped me physically and mentally overcome the temporary slip of my health. I had a stay of almost 2 weeks and want to quickly shout out the staff that made my stay so welcoming.
* Magdala, Loretta,Junide, Sarah, Carol, Luis, Sharmaine and Christine
* Last but not least the surgical team Dr. Subramanian and Dr. Astephan who delivered the fantastic news that my surgery would be done and did an amazing job.
It was almost sad to leave even though I was ready. Bitter sweet, but it’s their job to get me ready to go back home to my family.

I have been here twice with heart attacks in the last 30 days. I had two catheterizations and open heart surgery. These procedures and hospitals are never fun, but I loved my nurses. They really went out of their way to make these experiences as good as could possibly be. Since I came in on an emergency basis I didn’t have things I needed. One of my nurses let me use her charger, another found a charger I could use from lost and found, another brought in breath right strips from her home so I could breathe, another suggested I could use door dash to get anything I needed which worked great because a nurse ran down to security to get what I needed. Every other nurse did all that was possible to make me comfortable. The therapist worked with me to get me back on my feet ASAP. Thank God for all these great people.

My father has been a patient there a few times this year. I would love to give them an excellent review, but this time around I didn't see that. I do want to give a certain Nurse a 5 star review because she is absolutely amazing. She works on the 3rd floor Tower 3. My father was in room 5. Susan is her name and she absolutely went above and beyond for my father knowing that he was deteriorating. She still tried to brighten his spirits. I just want to thank her for never giving up on him. Nurses do not get the recognition they deserve. Also the people that come in to clean the rooms are also extremely kind, and caring!! I just wish everyone was like these extraordinary people!!

I am writing this review as a "Mother of a patient, my son" ... Not just as Google Mapquest Reviewer.
My son and I have recently been to more than 'a few' hospitals recently ... Each visit progressed in a deteriorating state ... Until God led us here ... I knew we were on the right path when their "smaller sister hospital in Okeechobee", Rauhlerson, assessed and transferred us to Lawnwood (because they were more equipped to deal with our extremely life threatening, highly complicated issues involving stabilizing several major organs' function.)
God working thru the hearts of everyone serving in this hospital is extraordinary !!! From the kindness of the people keeping it clean, to the gentlemen chauffeuring people to and from their cars (if needed), to the people conducting security and serving food to the patient's rooms and in the cafeteria ... And most beneficial to me as a mother, the hands-on professionals caring for my son. So many times during his stay ... We found ourselves remarking on how wonderful their care and attentive manner were. Not only are they professionally capable, but somehow ... Each and every person encountered during our stressful challenge ... somehow ... was able to express their human heart side WHILE conducting their professional responsibility. I am sorry, I can not remember names ... This ordeal is somewhat a blur ... But there were many moments I felt God working thru them reassuring me ... Little moments where we conversed, sharing how they spent Thanksgiving with their family and children ... Or in the case, one nurse that worked, got home, and went to bed ... To make sure she'd be rested to work the next day ... But she will have Christmas to enjoy with her loved ones. And there were my quips and smiles shared with "Bright Eyes," whose heart just radiated thru her smiling eyes and quiet but fun, gentle manner. My son's condition holds no promises ... No one ever knows what the future holds ... Ever ... But I will tell any mother, father, sister, brother ... If your life leads you to journey thru scarey unknown territory ... You will find this hospital and all the people serving in it ... One of the best to provide a sense of confident support and hope. My son is home with me now ... in time for his 35th birthday and Christmas... And it's THIS hospital ... THEIR STAFF that performed God's Miracle, for "my heart's" Christmas Present ... It truly is a Christmas miracle. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Peg

P.S. just for those that need to know ...
No ... I do not get paid to write reviews and
NO ... I do not let anyone know I write reviews ... Until AFTER the experience is over. I am nobody ... Just retired, tech challenged ... I'm not quite sure how I got involved in writing reviews. Accept one day ... A pop-up asked me how I liked Map Quest and the destination it took me to. I had nothing super important to do ... So to amuse myself ... I responded back ... I know, I know ... Leave to an ole Pffttt Pffttt to stumble bumble into things (haha) May God's Abundant Blessings shower down on all who read this ... Enjoy this Christmas Season may it shine "bright" in His Light. Amen.

My son's journey continued to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Advent Health (a couple Advent Health hospitals, and Tampa General ... all are 5 STAR, in my perspective). I am just now getting back to putting my personal life together and thought I might edit some of my reviews. My son, Bobby, passed away on September 5th, 2024. Time was our enemy. For you see, Bobby had no insurance in the beginning. We had just moved and didn't have established doctors to respond to follow-up care ... time was affected because of the tsunami effect upon our Healthcare processing system from our open borders. Bobby and all the medical and support staff never gave up ... he contracted several infections and beat every one of them ... thanks to each hospital's medical staffs' skills and emotional support ... time just wore out his body. But he and everyone never gave up combating the infections ... he was victorious !!!

It is a trauma hospital. If you are in the emergency room being seen by a nurse and doctor, your time will be longer than usual. We waited through 2 lock downs, and a few ambulance arrivals. The nurse went to get medication and came back 4 hours later. Then if it happens to be shift change, there's even more waiting. Our day doctor was extremely compassionate and knowledgeable.

Once admitted, you have more nurses and doctors to tell your story to. Our first person to come to the room was the charge nurse. She stayed 4 hours to make sure that the patient had a smooth transition.

We ended up in tower 2. These are private, spacious rooms. The three day visit had help ranging from great to rude to helpful to downright lazy. It must be the nature of the positions. Food was fresh. With it being Christmas eve, discharge took a while.

This is the second time I have come to the emergency room here and I must say I am impressed with the treatment I received.
Thanks to Lizzy, Carmen and Dr. Paschal and others whose names I don’t recall right now, I felt I received their attention and especially Dr. Paschal, who took the time to fully explain so I could understand something I already knew but after she showed me pictures on the computer from all angles it made things so much clearer to me and my family. She even said that though she was a surgeon and could my surgery, I needed a surgeon that was a specialist in mine and similar conditions. Thanks to all!! Excellent job!!

Dirty rooms. Rude Doctor. I would say his name but he never introduced himself. Got moved to another room which smelled like mold. The walls were gross And there was about 3 inches of dust balls around the Image scanner CT or something like it. Didn't have my phone to get a picture but here are some from my room.
So ya... I will NOT go back.
