I haven't studied at the Institute, so I would be grateful if past/presnet students could tell me if they would recommend the MA in African Studies and if they enjoyed doing the course. Thank you 🙂

An important place, within the University of Ghana, that is well-preserved. I suggest a day visit to the university; the bookshop inside and outside of the uni (EPP) is a must.

Is part of the institutions responsible for running the University of Ghana Required Courses (UGRC) mainly Introduction to African Studies (This course introduces students to the field of African Studies including Africa's histories, peoples and cultures. It begins with a general introduction to the discipline, its history and values; continues with an introduction to Gender Studies in Africa; and thereafter students select from an extensive and diverse menu of 'electives'. While all students take the general introduction and the introduction to gender, students are required to register and join one of 19 pre-selected "elective" classes in the second half of the semester (Insititute's Website, 2018)).
For the graduate level, all masters students are admitted on MA basis and those who excel in the First year course work continue as M.Phil Students.
