My son has no service coordinator at this time. His last one quit after a few weeks. Three service coordinators in one year. At this moment I have to leave messages and pray someone will return my calls. Work culture has changed a lot; one would think someone will ask why there is a high turnover in this organization. Unfortunately, it becomes clear why there is a high rate of homelessness. People who need help have to navigate a labyrinth of lack of staff, unreturned phone calls and lack of concern. It was not like this before. I worked with good people from this office five to seven years ago.

I'm a client, I have a baby with my fiance and we have been homeless a few times, my fiance is African American and I just feel like they are not helping me with anything at all, they even transferred me to a different city and they always throw in my face that they can't help my fiance so they don't help at all!.

The Lanterman Center is clean, quiet, and calm and the people are very helpful. My counselor Rachel is friendly and kind and pays attention to detail. I highly recommend the center.

Sadly the culture of the Lanterman Regional center only proves that they will do the absolute minimum for children with special needs, in an effort to retain as much of the federal money from SCDD for themselves.

From 2015 through 2017, the Early intervention program was a great help to our child. After 2017, our child was school age. Our family was assigned a coordinator, A. Morales, who displayed
bias towards our family, in the amount of support provided. The service coordinators case management skills were poor, communication was very inconsistent.

We contacted the Manager School Age unit. Mr. Chavez for support. We have still never heard from him. After multiple complaints to SCDD (State council for developmental disabilities),
we received a call from our service coordinator. Sadly this on happened in 2023. Our family has dealt with biased treatment since, 2020.

It been recommended that we ask for a new service coordinator. Without talking to the Manager of the unit, this process can't happen. Sadly this is a culture throughout the Regional Centers.

Lanterman is great, if you're aided, in public school, and don't demand too many services, that the agency is required to pay for.

Things to know before going to through this regional center process

1) if the service provided by the local public school district
(Lanterman won't pay for the service)

2) If the service is available for free in the community
(Lanterman will not pay for it)

3) If you're employers health insurance covers the service
(Lanterman won't pay for it)

To top it all off,
They culture of the service coordinator, is to gatekeep services and opportunities from our child, by doing the bare minimum in providing timely communication and needed documentation for services.

We as a family are highly disappointed in the treatment our child has received as a result of some well established bad players in this organization.

As we attempt to transition to SDP, we are looking for a better outcome for our child in future.

This is a warning to future participants of the program. Do your research, talk to other parents, be prepared to fight
your child.

This organization is amazing because it helps families and clients feel supported by whole team who makes sure you as a client is satisfied and has all the tools to have a functional life and feel free to chose what is best for your future.

Lanterman has been a God send for us. The staff is very caring and helpful. They make sure to have as many resources available to us as possible. And, they work with the community to create additional opportunities for interaction and advocacy training. Unfortunately, changes in state funding and regulations have limited the regional center's ability to fund as much as they used to, but that is actually out of their hands.

Very kind staff. Clean and friendly environment for adults and kids. They treated us very well and gave us invaluable information. They even have a resource center/library on the bottom floor that is free to use.

They provide horrible services, don't care for the black population and will give you the run around...staff will also lie to you...be careful with them...
